Getting your home ready for photos
General:
De-Clutter, De- Clutter, De-Clutter. We want the home to look spacious but don’t forget to leave a few well place accessories or colorful decor. Dust, clean and vacuum the whole house. Remove personal photographs and replace if possible. Make sure that there are no missing light bulbs and that they all work.
Kitchen:
Clear kitchen countertops except for 1 or 2 small appliances. Remove magnets and notes from refrigerator.
Bathrooms:
Remove everything from bathroom countertops. Clean mirrors and make sure there are no marks on glass. Put out nice fresh towels that coordinate with the décor.
Bedrooms:
Make beds. Remove everything from nightstands except for lamps and clocks. Clear the top of dressers. Pack away any children’s toys.
Living Areas:
Hide all newspapers and magazines. Remove all children’s toys. Remove dog and cat beds. Set up dining room table with nice dinner settings.
Exterior:
Mow lawns, trim hedges and shrubs. Clear away any items like garbage cans, bicycles or garden tools. Put out any lawn furniture that you may have.
Pets:
If you have pets, remove dog and cat water and food bowls. Remove dog and cat beds and dog crates. Put away pet toys.
Right before the shoot:
Open all drapes and shades and turn on all the lights. Put toilet seats down. Turn off all TVs and monitors. Close all garage doors. Remove cars from driveways. Mind pets so they don’t appear in photos.
